Workshop Structure

Inspire creativity through dance and storytelling—or choose to focus on just one! Each 45–60-minute session includes an interactive read-aloud from one of Salma’s books, paired with your choice of dance: Bollywood, Bhangra, Creative Contemporary, or World Dance. Depending on the option selected, workshops may also include a short writing activity where children can brainstorm, draft, and edit their ideas.

All sessions are fully inclusive, with costumes, any other resources required and music is provided. Our dance styles are perfect for Indian Days, South Asian Heritage Month, or linking with the Physical Education (PE) curriculum. All that’s needed is a screen for a short PowerPoint and space to move—Salma provides the rest. Suitable for up to 30 children.

Workshop Option 1: Just Books – Read, Write & Imagine
Salma begins with a captivating read-aloud of one of her original stories to ignite imagination. Children are then guided through a creative writing workshop where they brainstorm, draft, and edit their own short stories. This session focuses purely on storytelling and literacy, nurturing confidence and creativity through the written word.

Workshop Option 2: Storytelling & Bollywood Dance Fusion
A lively and engaging mix of storytelling and Bollywood dance. Salma begins with an interactive read-aloud from one of her books, sparking imagination and creativity. Children then bring the story to life through vibrant Bollywood choreography, using expressive movement, gestures, and music to explore character, mood, and emotion.

Workshop Option 3: Storytelling & Bhangra Beats
This energetic workshop introduces children to Bhangra, a joyful Punjabi folk dance rooted in celebration and community. Salma begins with an interactive read-aloud from one of her books, sparking imagination and creativity. Inspired by the spirit of harvest festivals, Bhangra features powerful movements, rhythmic footwork, and lively beats. Children will learn traditional steps while discovering the cultural roots and meaning behind this dynamic and unifying dance style.
